Woman Made: Featuring FittyBritttty

International Women’s Day is celebrated in many countries around the world. It is a day when women are recognized for their achievements without regard to divisions, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, age, economic or political. It’s a celebration where we unite as a global community to celebrate women, their endless drive, passion, impact and tireless effort in making a difference.

In celebration of International Women’s Day this year, we wanted to celebrate (honor) seven women who we admire and look up to and showcase the amazing work and impact they are making in their field and communities through our #GoldfadenMDForHer campaign. Dive in deeper with us as we showcase these incredibly notable and talented women.

Britney started her blog, after creating a fitness instagram page in 2014. “My fitness journey, the real one, started August 2011. I grew up overweight and was aware of my weight issues but they never bothered me. One day I woke up and realized they really did upset me and I was going to change the way I felt. I walked into a Weight Watchers meeting with my mom by my side, weighed in, and haven’t looked back since.”

Fitty Brittty blog talks about her own journey of losing 85 pounds, eating habits, exercise habits as well as some other occasional chats and hopefully some recipes (she loves to cook and bake). A platform dedicated to finding inspiration and motivation, positioned to push each and every person closer to reaching their ultimate goals and dreams.

Tell us the story of how you started your business?

My business started completely by accident! I started my Instagram account and blog as a way to keep myself accountable on my health and wellness journey and now 4 years later it’s my full time job and a full fledged business! I’m so lucky to get to do what I love — insipre and motivate women all over the world to live a healthier lifestyle and to truly fall in love with their bodies — and make a living while doing so.

Which women inspire you the most and why?

My mom always inspires me, when I was growing up my mom was superwoman she did it all and it always reminds me no matter how hard life gets, you can always get through it with a smile. I’m also constantly inspired by all the amazing women who are part of my community, without them I would not be where I am today!

What’s your advice to women trying to make an impact in their career?

Be authentic, passionate, and follow your truth. Tell your story. You never know how many people are too scared to talk about what they are going through or what they’ve been through and are craving to know they are not alone in their struggles.

First thing you do when you wake up, is?

Take my vitamins, drink water, and my morning skincare, then COFFEE!

Last thing you do before you go to sleep, is?

Ahhh I’m guilty of being on my phone usually before bed! Working on changing this habit in 2019!

What will be the biggest challenge for the generation of women behind you?

I think the greatest challenge for women in the generation behind me will be working on maintaining a work-life balance! I hope women really take advantage of what has been accomplished already by all the amazing previous generations of women without having to sacrifice their personal lives as much!

What are the best decisions that you have made in your career thus far?

One of the best decisions I made was learning how to negiotiate for myself and also finding a few photographers I can work with that help me bring my visions to life!

What are the worst?

I signed an exclusive contract at the beginning of my career as a blogger for $0.00 and I was THRILLED to even get to work with this certain brand at the time until I realized they were paying all the other content creators and bloggers thousands a month for the exact same thing I was doing! It was a huge lesson for me and it also was a big turning point in my business. I realized if I wanted to really blog full time I had to step into my power and know my worth and not be afraid to ask for it.

What is your self-care routine?

Lots of skincare, yoga, netflix, hot long showers, tea/coffee, facials, massages, and spending quality time with friends!
